Welcome to my toe-dip into blogification. I’ve called this site Monetise This in homage
to those who insist in buggerising the English language with their flatulent, fraudulent corporate-speak – those drillers-down, deep-divers, goers-forward, whose only purpose is to hide the fact that they’re saying absolutely-bloody-nothing – at least nothing I want to listen to. Nor you, I hope, gentle reader. It’s also called Monetise This because I, like every other misguided late-adopter to this crazy little thing called social media, eventually want to make some money out of it. Cynical? Mais, oui!
I suppose I could also have called it Plan B…
Now that’s out of the way, let’s drill right down, folks. This blog is for people like me, who’ve reached a time in their lives when they know who they are and what they want, and who are often rudely awakened by how wrong they are on both counts. It’s for people who like food and eating and cooking, but refuse to use ‘foodie’ and ‘passionate’ in the same sentence (and would rather not use the word ‘foodie’ at all).
And it’s for anyone who’s travelled well, travelled badly or merely travelled in the windmills of their mind.
I’ll be posting my blatherings on whatever drifts across my peripheral vision on a reasonably regular basis, and hope that it may afford someone a little amusement, inspiration or, if it comes to that, some minor irritation. If that person happens to be you, then I hope you contact me for a chat – unless you’re an irritated axe murderer.
So glad to find you again – on the interwebs this time! Love your disdain for the corporate speak. You must check out Who Touched Base in My Thought Shower? 🙂 It’s gold.
Well, hello, Rachel – will definitely take a look. Sorry my. Log is so sparse – been quite a while since I’ve posted anything. Must do so soon.
Dear Sally
I recently returned from Florida and heard from Caroline that your mother had passed away and wanted to send my condolences along with my family on your sad loss.
I first came into contact with your mom some 12 years ago when my daughter, Natalie, was living in the same estate in Watford. Long story short, I got Ros together with Auntie Irene and I know that they never “looked back” after the grand reunion. Your mom also regaled me with stories of my parents, Henry and Mildred. – some of them a bit risqué !
From time-to-time your mother emailed me your travel articles as she was very proud of you.
We wish you and Belinda a “Long Life”
Regards
Iris, Michael and family
Good to read some bright, clever prose. And thanks for the prod to revisit mine, now five weeks overdue, alas. Will follow you with interest and pleasure.
Thank you Julie – I really appreciate the feedback and will definitely take a look at Garden Grapevine. I often feel like I’m writing into a void, so it’s always lovely to find a comment. Happy reading – and writing…
Sal, love your blog and I’ve added it to my blogroll. Look forward to your postings.
Thanks so much Ros – I really love getting feedback – haven’t been on here for a while, so I missed this comment. Hope all’s well with you and yours. I always enjoy your posts. X
I WANT MORE & I WANT IT NOW.
